Charge Waiver
An adjustment that reduces an unpaid rental charge balance.
Definition
A Charge Waiver is an adjustment that forgives part or all of an unpaid rental charge. Waivers reduce what is owed; they do not represent money returned.
Formula
Waived amount = min(original charge amount, sum of adjustments for the charge).
Adjusted charge amount = original charge amount - waived amount.
Remaining amount = max(0, adjusted charge amount - paid amount).
When To Use It
- Use a waiver when money was not collected and the renter no longer owes the balance.
- Use a refund when money was collected and is being returned.
